Before a car crash is reckless abandon.
We are in an open car driving along the coast—the salty air caressing our faces,
our hair flying in the wind
as the sun breathes glittering diamonds into the sea.
It feels so good and I don’t want it to stop.
But stop eventually, we will.
The brakes are broken;
the sea air tastes like tears
and the glow of the afternoon sun that
blankets you like a halo
whisper warnings
that we are going to crash.
That is how we stop.
We know it’s the only way this ends.
So let’s enjoy this ride while it lasts;
while my pulse beats to the sound of your voice;
while your touch remains warm;
Baby, crash into me;
Like the waves to the shore.
Crash into me;
Like a shooting star to the horizon;
Like your lips to my skin.
Crash into me.
