*Academic Mode: ON* Yeah. I'm getting studious!
Bwahahahaha! After eight years of academic slumber, I'll give studying a chance. Our Humanities is not at all boring. Sir Cayas was talking about the INTRINSIC ARTISTIC CAPABILITY of an artist. The phrase reminded me of the undying debating quote: Talking is a talent. Debating is a skill.
Skill.
Art is a skill. Dancing IS a SKILL. Singing is a SKILL. It is LEARNED. The only difference that the TALENTED has to the SKILLED, is that, the talented can do it without trying to. They need not to be taught. Yet, they have to work hard on their talents before it qualifies as something worthy.
Talent is like a ruby embedded in a pile of coal left in your doorstep. You have it. Yet, you have to work hard on polishing it before you can show it to others.
Skill is like FINDING an already-polished ruby. You have to look for it. Work hard on finding it. But when you do, it is equally priceless as that of a talent.
There is no such thing as NOT KNOWING HOW TO DANCE, SING, DRAW, DEBATE or whatever. The simple way of doodling lines in a pencil is considered drawing. The common intonation when you scream, guffaw or complain can be a note in a song. Running around, jumping, and skipping when walking are the building blocks of dancing. And talking is INNATE in all of us!
All of us, afterall, are talented. We all have rubies. It may seem like pure coal at first glance.
But all we have to do is polish it.
